Halo: Reach vs. Halo 3 Graphics Comparison
When Halo 3 was released in September of 2007, it was welcomed with a new entertainment launch sales record (recently bested by Modern Warfare 2) and a host of skeptics troubled by the game's lack of visual horsepower. While certainly a step up from its predecessor, Halo 3 did not achieve the same shock and awe effect that Halo 2 did when released. This no doubt is in large part to the over all increase in graphical quality among other First Person Shooters. Bungie, developer of the Halo franchise, knew they had an antiquated game engine on their hands and wisely chose to start from the beginning. The result is a brand new engine capable of rendering far more detailed imagery. Halo: Reach is currently set to be released on September 26th, 2010. Below you'll find a comparison of several in game images from both Halo: Reach and Halo 3 as well as actual gameplay released at the recent X10 event.

I think the pictures posted should be of a better quality.
ReplyDeleteThe lack of quality made it hard to see the finer differences in the graphics.
Halo reach to me is a true upgrade to halo 3 in terms of graphics. I am pleased to see Bungie are going all out with Reach this time round :D

ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments! I'll be sure to include higher resolution images. It was actually pretty tough coming across hi res Halo 3 shots this late in the game. My goal was to showcase the awesome upgrades Bungie has implemented to the engine. I'm playing the beta now and I should have my impressions and video up shortly. Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteYeah reach defiantly looks much better than 3. The gun models especially look better but still has some bad textures and jaggy lines you can tell it's still running on the halo 3 engine although they gutted most of the code and rewrote it I think they should have completely ditched the halo 3 engine and started fresh it's not like they don't have the money
ReplyDeleteto be honest i liked the lighting in halo 3 nd the gamneplay, the spartans looked more tougher nd the maps were awesome. Honestly if reach jus had hayabusa nd katana, halo 3 maps, all of the guns, nd dual wielding. it would be the best game evr, but im an overall halo fan so i rly dnt mind, bt my fav is probably halo 3 for the campaign.
