Crytek is widely considered to be the industry leader when it comes to in game graphics. After taking a look at this brand new trailer showcasing the CryEngine 3, it isn't hard to see why. I can't wait to see this technology put to use in a new intellectual property from Crytek.

This is going to be a strange one as Crytek enters into the console world. Inevitably, consoles delay the push for next-gen graphics, relying rather on developers pushing the bar as far as the hardware will allow until its time for a new console cycle. I guess what I'm saying is--could a 360 even run Crysis, let alone Crysis 2? What are they taking out of the engine? Or is it just optimized better?
ReplyDeleteObviously I forgot to add that this looks great and am looking forward to Crysis 2 and the engine in general. Check it out in Aion (new MMO), right now.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a few years since Crysis, so I'm sure technology has allowed for the engine to be optimized. Also, as amazing as it looks it isn't quite as pretty as Crysis on PC. Draw distance will surely be cut down and the maps will no doubt be smaller. If anyone can do it though, Crytek can.
